Bubbles make EVERYTHING better!

Brayden at 2, originally uploaded by Orlando Photo Chic.
Doing a photo session with a 2 year old can be a difficult task, trust me I've done a few. This is Brayden, super fun, cute little boy that does what any two year old is supposed to do...run like crazy and doesn't give a hoot that you want some great photos of him. I assured Mom that we would find a way. She'd told me in the past they had gone to stuffy mall studios and it didn't work out so well. I couldn't agree more. If you want photos of your kids having fun...TAKE THEM SOMEWHERE FUN!! So there we were at Friendship Park in Oviedo, FL (one of my favorite locations btw) This park is IDEAL for photo sessions. All the playground equipment is brand new. All the colors are super bright and vibrant. There are plenty of areas of shade, and if you can time it like we did, 10 am on a Sunday, no one is there to photo bomb your shoot.

We let Brayden loose to indulge his 2 year old energy. I'd chase him around and try to be interesting and see if he'd check me out. He wasn't really interested and barely flinched when you'd call his name. So I had to break out the big guns. BUBBLES!! It's my secret weapon and you can pretty much find them in my car at any given time. Adults probably think I'm weird. I've found that bubbles do a few things for photos.

1. They make them look magical
2. Slow the kids down so you can get a good shot
3. and most important, KIDS LOVE THEM!

There are other things I've learned about bubbles too that you might need to know if you plan on busting them out on the playground in hopes of capturing some magic with you kids.

1. It's SUPER important to have some "Decoy Bubbles" because let me tell you, as soon as one kid screams "BUBBLES!!" the entire playground will shift and there will be a million kids in your shot trying to get in on some bubble action. There is a simple remedy to this. Bring a small thing of extra bubbles and let a parent for the other kids take it to use else where on the playground. Problem solved.

2. It's helpful to bring an old shirt or towel because bubbles tend to get messy and you want to be able to clean up afterwords. There is only so much bubble solution one can rub on there jeans without feeling really gross.

So in a nut shell what did we learn today?...BUBBLES + a great playground=GREAT KID PHOTOS!
